Lavender
What more can you say about lavender? This amazing perennial sports fragrant blue-green foliage, blue-purple flowers all summer long, and all parts of the plant can be used fresh or dried in recipes or in sachets and potpourris. Plus, lavender flowers will attract butterflies to your garden! It's simply a must-have plant for the flower border, herb garden, or mixed container.

Lavender loves sunshine and well-drained soil. Plant it where it will receive at least 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight a day. Lavender will sulk in wet soil, preferring a quick-draining spot that doesn't stay muddy after a rain. For the best fragrance and flavour, clip the stems in the morning after the dew disappears. Lavender is not intended for human or animal consumption.

Lavender soothes the respiratory system, making breathing for stress relief easier. Eases digestive upsets and gas which often accompany depression. Eases tension headaches, and other physical aches and pains. Disinfects and treats skin problems. Mosquito repellent.
